BAS Barcelona Art Street Museum

  • BAS Museum 10 Carrer de la Carabassa Barcelona, CT, 08002 Spain (map)

The permanent collection of BAS consists of a selection of some of the best urban artists, both national and international. The selection follows two principles: one is to respect and value the most relevant and representative local artists in the history of urban art in Barcelona, and the second is to provide the possibility to show works by artists from around the world, which are more difficult to find in Barcelona.

About the work "Metaphor" explores the intersection of memory and materiality through layered metals, reclaimed wood, and laminated glass. Its stacked, interlocking planes create shifting negative space that invites viewers to move around the piece and discover changing compositions of light and shadow. The sculpture’s patinated surfaces and visible joins trace an intentional balance between process and presence, suggesting both fragility and endurance.

Curatorial statement BAS Museum gathers contemporary sculptural practices that emphasize tactile engagement and spatial dialogue. The exhibition situates "Metaphor” alongside works that investigate form as record: how surfaces hold trace, how voids shape perception, and how scale reorients bodily awareness. Together, these works invite a reconsideration of material histories and the ways objects occupy communal space.
