Les Enfants de Kupka

Children of Kupka is a collective show with Jan Kalab, Kenor and Robert Proch.

The Openspace Gallery organizes its very first institutional exhibition outside the walls, offering a transversal artistic event that delighted lovers of modern and contemporary art. An artistic dialogue between the 20th and 21st centuries, between the master of abstraction František Kupka and urban artists.

František Kupka spent more than fifty years of his life in Puteaux in the Ile de France and died there in 1957. With the Children of Kupka event, the town hall of Puteaux affirms its desire to anchor its reflection on the historical and artistic heritage of the city, and this in a reflection around transversality. This exhibition is a great first!

Through the originality of his work, the artist František Kupka has transmitted many lessons to the following generations of artists: total freedom in the approach of light and color, the search for a dynamic of movement or even the development of abstraction through a game of construction and deconstruction of forms. Many visual and conceptual correspondences thus appear between the universe of the Czech master and that of this young generation of contemporary urban artists, here, represented by the Polish Robert Proch, the Spanish Kenor and the Czech Jan Kaláb.

The works of Frantisep Kupka and urban artists dialogued in particular with a wall live painted by Kenor, to remind us that creativity continues to renew itself in public space, thanks to muralism.

KENOR is the protagonist in this edition of MTN Water Based Studio Works. The exhibition, 'Les Enfants de Kupka', which took place during the month of April in the French city, Puteaux, united a series of artists who's work is influenced by the painter Frantisek Kupka. It was in this event where this audiovisual document was presented that takes us one step beyond working in the studio: the exhibition. The visual spectacle of the act of painting is an important aspect in the work of KENOR although we may not be accustomed to noticing. This video gives us the opportunity to be witnesses to KENOR's live painting, backed by the quality and comfort that MTN Water Based 300 permits.
