Transforms II

Autechre’s LP Incunabula, from 1993, is a record that marked my life and my career.

It’s a master piece of electronic abstract music and in my opinion there isn’t any record after it so meaningful and so disruptive and so innovative. I couldn’t stop listening that album in loop and his music for the very first time inspired and pushed me to paint in such an abstract way.

I’ve joined the vanguardist evolution of the 90s in the art field, trying to compose or actually to break the shapes, the geometries and the lines in the canvas and in the graffiti in the same way as Autechre’s music. My desire was to paint his rhythm, composing with the same deconstructivist style.

Transforms II, in particular, starts from a 2014 canvas interpreting Autechre’s sound that I am really connected to. I decided to rework it digitally, to explode it in furthers universes, with so many details you can loose yourself following the lines in the piece, a series of infinite metaverses. I was thinking about this time of the year, where people try to have a balance of the past and a plan for their future: well, this work can represent all that complexity, even the dark sides of us, but at the same time tells about the infinite opportunities that are always in front of us to come, if we are able to risk, to follow our inspirations, if we are able to be restless and experiment every day.

This is the story behind “Transforms II” .
